Thanks for taking the time to visit this blog. This blog came about while travelling to Cebu Philipines in 2001. I had the opportunity to visit an orphanage with my parents while travelling in the Philippines.
The orphanage was a special needs orphanage and was sponsored by my parents church group who organised fund raisers for the orphanage to support the daily up keep of the orphanage. Many of the orphans were no older than 4 years old, many abandoned after birth.
I was overwhelmed by the smiles and excitement they showed, when we spent time getting to know each child. They’re enthusiasm was infectious and enjoyed teaching them basic english words.
While my time at the orphanage was short, It was a great experience and help realise the importance of the giving mindset, be it your time, skills, just being able to share your time with someone in need, can be a very uplifting experience.
While I’m back in Australia, I’m looking forward to my next trip.
